Vatera Most Beautiful Beach Of Lesvos

The largest and most beautiful beach of Lesvos. Vatera!!

Vatera is a region in the south of the island with the longest beach on the island. Ten kilometer clean sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and a horizon that does not stop only in blue is the best guarantee for beach lovers. It lies 55 km from the capital, Mytilini. In the past it holiday village for residents of neighboring towns, but the last 20 years began to grow popular and receives many visitors from Greece and abroad. The beach facing Chios and Psara and three kilometers from the seaside village is the cape of Agios Fokas, which are still preserved ruins of the temple of Dionysus and Early Christian basilica a year. This is one beach that seems to extend forever. The town of Vatera itself stretches a couple kilometers and is made up of some really nice tavernas, a pizza place or two, several small bars, a few shops and some terrific family oriented hotels. Most of the people who come to Vatera are Northern Europeans who have been coming for years and a few celebrities in the know who enjoy a quiet ouzo and mezedes and a good book at sunset, as well as snorkeling along the coast where fish and octopus are plentiful.
