Skalochori is located in the north-western part of the island of Lesvos, 58 km from the town of Mytilene. Skalochori is a picturesque mountain village. The nearest small fishing port is called Kalo Limani, or Tsamour Limani. There are ruins of a small fortress in the area Omvriokastro. Another sight of interest is the Monastery of Perivoli.The village of Skalochori still keeps its traditional rhythms; it is built on the hillside in the middle of silver olive groves. In the village the old school building is worth seeing because of the special local kind of stone used in its construction.
