Gulf of Kalloni is the largest in Lesvos and is
located in the southwestern part of the island. It is a semi-enclosed system
which communicates with the Aegean via a
channel width of less than one kilometer. The channel significantly restricts
the movement of water bodies resulting creation of special features in the
vagina. Specifically, it has higher salinity of the sea (about 4 ° Be) as a
result has high productivity and eutrophication.The most important part of the
wetland is located in the northern and eastern part of Gulf, where is the

The vegetation found in Kalloni, as in other pans
